Joe is the former founder and co-owner of Adamson’s Peak Performance. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in PE with an emphasis in commercial and industrial fitness from Oregon State University and a Master’s degree in exercise physiology from California State University, Chico.
His Master Degree project, published in 1991, was titled “The Development of a Strength and Conditioning Program for High School and College Athletes”. In 1985 he traveled to Dallas TX to take the very first Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist exam offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association - a certification held for over 20 years.
During his professional career, Joe has worked as a cardiopulmonary lab technician, fitness club manager, wellness program coordinator, personal trainer, and now oversees his team of eight personal trainers. With no job and little money he and Kathy launched Adamson’s Peak Performance inside Shasta Physical Therapy in 1993. Now, 25 years later, Adamson’s is in its fourth location – a 17,000 square foot, two-story training center. In July 2022, Joe sold Adamson's Peak Performance to current CEO and now owner, Ryan Smith.
Joe utilizes a combination of scientific knowledge, enthusiasm, and over 30 years of personal experience to help his clients reach high levels of physical fitness, sports performance, and optimum health. His hobbies include pumping iron, backpacking, gardening, and backyard barbecues (he can grill a mean burger). His favorite pastime – hanging out with his family – Kathy, Zak & Sharon, Jamie & Andrew, and his five grandchildren – William, Emma, Bru, James, and Zeke.
